The Torrs Hydro Electric Scheme

The Torrs Hydro-Electric scheme in New Mills

High Peak FoE are keen to support local initiatives that promote the use of alternative energy such as the
proposed Torrs Hydro-Electric scheme in New Mills.

"The system is very simple and works on the same principle as a dynamo on a pedal bike, except that instead of a bicycle wheel, we shall have a large Archimedean Screw turned by water. We shall be using a 2000 year old technology on a 200 year old river weir to produce renewable energy for present and future generations, whilst also saving carbon emissions."
Steve Welsh - Water Power Enterprises

Planning Pemission granted - See our news page, the campaigns page for full details,
or the official Torrs Hydro-Electric Project website.
